Biography

Periklis Kotinis was born in Agrinio, Greece, in 2000. He earned degrees in Harmony (2016), Counterpoint (2018), Fugue (2021), and Band Orchestration and Conducting (2023) all with Excellent, as well as a Piano Degree (Excellent, 2018) from the Conservatory of Modern Art in Agrinio.

In 2023, he graduated with Excellent from the School of Music Studies, Faculty of Fine Arts, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; he was awarded an integrated Mester's degree in Music Studies, specializing in Composition under the guidance of Professor Christos Samaras.

In 2019, he begun studying the bassoon; since 2021, he has been studying Byzantine music. As of July 2024, he is a doctoral student in the Department of Music Studies at the University of Ioannina, under the supervision of Prof Athanasios Trikoupis.

During and after his studies, his compositions have been performed by numerous esteemed soloists and ensembles in Thessaloniki, including performances by the "Contra Tempo" ensemble conducted by Vladimiros Symeonidis, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (11th Contemporary Music Lab, 2021) and at the Vafopouleio Cultural Center (2022), as well as the "End of an Era" ensemble, conducted by Michalis Trachalios, at the Vafopouleio Cultural Center (2023).

As a bassoonist in training, he performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2021-2023); he also collaborated with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Department of Music Studies at the University of Ioannina.

His professional experience includes teaching Music Theory at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Thessaloniki and the Armoniko Conservatory in Kilkis (2023-2024), as well as teahing Compositionat the Modern Art Conservatory in Agrinio. Currently, he provides piano and music theory lessons at the Modern Art Conservatory in Agrinio and collaborates with the Orfeas Conservatory of Oreokastro.
